Only wisdom, dedication and sacrifice can safe mankind
There is lots of talking about mankind exceeding safe boundaries for Earth. Interesting theory here we can findin new book by Christian de Duve “Genetics of original sin. “. He is Belgian physician and cytologist, Nobel Prize winner in medicine and physiology in 1974.
He argues that human kind was the most succesful in evolution process. Leading us to world domination. But it comes with price tag attached. Energy crises, climate change, pollution and destruction of the environment in which we live are just to mention the biggest one. As he standed in interview for “New Scientist” if we will keep following that path, we have really hard times ahead, including possible extinction.
He follows that theory by observed facts. Natural selection has led to encodign in our genes different features, such as for example the collective selfishness. He calls this a short-sighted “original sin”.
But it is not too late. There are changes we can implement which can safe us from extincion. And it is quite simple. Be wise, dedicated and sacrifice little things. What seems so “not trendy” within males, like “green” cars, not big SUV’s and all “green” product packaging, being organic etc finds its point here. And things I used to laugh at as rather conservative gorilla type of man I have to take for consideration now. Those are not easy changes to anyone. Females, as they don’t see “green” guys as much attractive as hairy macho in 4×4, for guys as they don’t have their guys playground. So it is rather new global social trend, then just flicking the switch.
But also he suggest rather controversial solutions. Such us birth control. Also simultaneously to transfer more power to women.
As a biologist, he claims that they are less aggressive than men. Play an important role in the early stages of the education of children, helping them to overcome their own genetic inheritance – he explains. That is what not only help us right now, but will generate new kind of social stereotypes.
But gents, we all have to agree that is true. We all are about competition, power, money, muscle power, fights and all the most stupid things. Well it is in our genes to be the strongest, richest, the provider and protector. So it is nature itself who made us that way. But we have evolved, we are thinking animals now, we can make intentional choices. And it seems it is time to take one right now.
Reading alarming news from all over the world. Recent one from DailyMail: “Water demand will ‘outstrip supply by 40% within 20 years’ due to climate change and population growth“.
