This is controversial subject not only for you, but for myself too. But what else we can do they question things and look for answers. That is what brought us from dark ages to conscious and informed societies.
We are afraid of unknown, and we have ultimate hunger for “knowing” world around us.
But as cards of history shown science and spirituality doesn’t go well together. As for me, I am cut somewhere in the middle. For the best or for the worse. But I do appreciate this place a lot because it situates me in both worlds. With a little of understanding of them both. It seems we all are somewhere in the middle. With all the emotions, desires, good and evil, poor and rich, old and young, black and white, those in power and in middle class. That is what builds up the walls between us. But we all seems to have one common value wherever we are. Believe in better, in magic power, good spirit, in God or Gods.
As I was trying to explain my point in “double-rooted” personality subject human kind operates in shape of animal with higher instincts. Those bad things are happening because we allow our animal nature to take control over our actions. All the power and money thing is upgraded version of complementation between individuals from horde to gain better position and take advantage of it. Better food, more females, power and control over others, respect, social position. We can all observe this in animal world in National Geographic. So it isn’t that different to watch horde of lions fighting for “alpha male” position and watching Wall Street session. Even though tools are much more sophisticated as well the results and motivations, it is still based on same principles. Sometimes in this “sophistication” we are forgetting what actually made us to do what we are doing and we are just keep rolling for the sense of achievement of some target we think is right for us. For the fact, for that picture in Forbes cover, for another …0 on bank account. But what really motivates you? Most of the people in suits will came up with some psychological gibberish from some HR books etc. They will say what they suppose to say, or other words what was placed in their mouths by some stereotype. But what will happen when we will strip society from all those fake images, success stereotypes? Most of the people will be lost for some time. Other will turn and say that it is their family that motivates them. But does your family really ask to fire 50 people so they can go for 2nd holidays this year? Of course it is good to have things, but is it not more important that your family knows that you are good person rather then that guy who brings money? Again, I keep repeating myself, healthy balance is a key. To gain respect from your family doesn’t take millions, it just takes a little bit of effort.
I wanted to talk about something else here, about God institution itself. It is
It is institution of authority, not only pointing the way, but also follows her. It is glowing example of what is good in us. Extracted and exaggerated for its purpose.
Let me bring word of Archbishop Józef Życiński from polish newspaper gazeta.pl (http://wyborcza.pl/1,97863,9094649,Rozmowa__ktora_przerwala_smierc.html?as=2&startsz=x) which we could translate as follows:
“Someone once asked me: “Why do we actually need God?”. I replied: “And why do we need Mozart? Why do we need Einstein?”. Society without great principles (ideals), without the noble values, where people chew gum and exchange gossip, could exist. But I’m afraid of such world.”
Couldn’t agree more. Although I strongly do appreciate unquestionable role of church, I want to present something to think about. It is understandable that prime role of church is needed because simply some people have to be afraid of something in order to behave. So called mass control. It is simply because not all of us are on the same level. Maybe for the best, maybe not. As Archbishop Józef stated in the same interview about freedom:
“We want to be free, but we are afraid of terrorists. So we demand that this somehow protect our freedom, we feel secure. As a result, we are controlled by the cells, tracked by cameras. The system, which is protect us, enslaves us.
This process can not be stopped. But you have to guard the borders of our dignity and privacy. I fear a world in which no sense of moral responsibility, without a voice of conscience can succeed in the name of justifying everything. Also enslavement to our security.”
For very same reason we have institution of God. To support “moral responsibility” to feel safe, to encurage people to be good/behave apropietly.
It is inspiration for some, and duty for others. Personally I prefer term inspiration.
But how about all this mythical powers of God, creator of universe, pure spiritual existence?
Well I wouldn’t dare to call it maybe exaggerated development if idea by human kind, but maybe small manipulation to engage fear to achieve order could have a place? I would never say to anyone to stop going to church or stop believing in God or church. It is very reach and important social and spiritual mechanism that can cure diseases. What it all does, it is giving us an opportunity. Gives us piece, and allow us to believe we are good, and we want to do good. Simply it makes us feel worm, needed and better person. Through interactions with other people, through touch of culture, music, pray, being part of something, bigger picture. We feel more important. It is simple things, but those matters the most. To find a piece within ourselves.
I wouldn’t dare to make such statemement just simply because we know so little about ourselves, our planet, our universe. It would be simply lies to say it.
But the statement I want to make here is to say that this magical God is not out there somewhere watching you and me. Well maybe is, but I would rather convince you He is here.
And It is not some spiritual shape sitting next to you, it is part of you. Not in physical meaning. But when you decide to help old lady with her shopping, to visit your own old uncle just to talk to him, to sacrifice a bit of your TV time to talk to lonely friend. This is how God looks like, you are the God, you have God-like powers. What more in earth can you ask? So thing about God as this good will-power inside each of us, and then you will find a God.
And don’t be scared of judgment day. Because we all are being judged by other people. And legacy you are leaving behind you is your judgment. That is your judgment day whatever your closest will say that you did you best or you just wasted your time in here. I know it might be a bit of shock to read heresies like this for some of you. But I am hoping that for this small group of people which are questioning life it will bring inspiration. You don’t need a prove, you just have to believe in yourself. Believing that you can do good is believing in God. And the whole church confession, penance attenting to Sunday mass is just to help you understand, to guide you and you shouldn’t treat it otherwise. Some need that guidance, some doesn’t. If you prefer to go to opera or visit your family that is fine. There is no harm in that, as far as you believe that each person has a bid of God in them.

Time
Time passes and every morsel of it we must appreciate. To write, to create, you can not walk around from party to party. But everything can not be converted to read or written page. Oh, even if priests come to me with various things. We handle what they need, and I could go back to my texts. But I see him sitting before me, a lonely man, who had boarded up the village, where there is no one to talk. It asked: – And the priest health? I hear about problems with the liver, rheumatism.
And I see what I’m thankful that I have for him this moment. Then learn, books, texts cease to be valid.
Dignity
We have separated from the key concepts. We do not know what it is honor, integrity, self-restraint.
And dignity is, after the foundation of our culture and shapes our attitude to other people.
